This artwork is a painting. The aim of this artwork is to show how Chinese culture and history long-standing, well established, and both extensive and profound. The dragon in the vase that goes outside of the vase represents the aim. The background is mixed with yellow, red, and brown, which is also the significant color of China.

The main theme of this artwork is to go against the tradition. What a normal Chinese bridal sedan chair is in red color, with bride sitting inside the sedan chair. However, I did not want what tradition is, and change the color of the bridal sedan chair into the opposite color of red, that is, green. And unlike some beautiful patterns on the traditional sedan, I used graffiti to decorate the sedan. The main part is, I decided to let bridegroom to sit inside of the sedan instead of bride, and let him doing something rude, such as smoking, sitting in an inappropriate posture, and with a sad face, which is obviously against the tradition. Furthermore, the bridegroom is holding a telephone, which shows that he is looking forward to the modern life.

The topic of this artwork is the Chinese New Year. What the artwork shows is a situation in the Chinese society. Red pockets means bringing good luck in China. People will get red pocket during the Chinese New Year, therefore they as the time past, people wants red pocket not for the best wishes from the red pocket, but the money inside it. Some people even complain the amount of the money is not enough. That’s what I want to criticise.
